Kristy Boyles and Mike Desmond, longtime high school coaches and ambassadors for the sport of lacrosse in Charlotte, were recently inducted into the NC Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Boyles, who played college lacrosse at University of Richmond, became head coach of Charlotte Country Day’s girls’ team in 2012. Under her leadership, the team has won a slew of NCISAA State Titles, including an astounding streak of championships from 2013 through 2018. Kristy is the co-founder of Little Sticks Lacrosse, a program that introduces the fundamentals of the sport to grade-school kids through after-school programs and clinics.
Coach Desmond spend the past five seasons at the helm of Fort Mill High School. This season he will be the first head coach to lead the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves in their inaugural 2025 season. Prior to Fort Mill, Coach Desmond spent the 2019 season at Charlotte Catholic as the offensive coordinator.
In 2002, Desmond launched StickWithUs.org, an organization which grew to include year-round programs for boys and girls from first grade through high school. His Team Carolina became a nationally recognized club team. In 2022, he sold Team Carolina but continues to run his non-profit, The SickWithUs Organization, that each spring produces the Heroes Bowl.
