And we’re off…The 2025 season officially kicks off at noon on Saturday as the Queens men take on Mount St. Mary’s. While the Royals are still adjusting to the DI level of play, a win this weekend would be a great way to start the season.
Now in his third year as head coach, Nik Colpitts has cast a wide net and recruited players from all over the country. It’s a gritty team with more than a few 6’4”, 200+ pounders. Among the players to watch are faceoff specialist Grant Isika (Sr.), an All-State player from Woodlands, Texas; Freshman Tanner Bachelor, a 6’4” All-American defender from Shakopee, Minnesota; and Ryan McDaniel, a 6’3” sophomore attackman from Alpharetta, Georgia that played in all 17 games last year.
Colpitts has also embraced some homegrown talent by recruiting locally, including freshman midfielder Brooks Stankavage (Ardrey Kell), redshirt sophomore Micah Stechmiller (Lake Norman Charter), and Dylan Murphy a freshman defender who played at Lake Norman.
Free admission for kids this weekend, so bring ‘em along.
